What Is Cannabis?
Cannabis, AKA Marijuana, is a plant that grows naturally in every continent on the planet and has been used medicinally for centuries by humans. Cannabis consists of around 483 different compounds including tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and at least 65 other Cannabinoids. These compounds have psychotropic effects, which is why people get high when they smoke, as well as very strong medicinal effects on the human body and brain. It can be grown differently for different effects for different conditions. For example, there are strains of marijuana that specifically focus on helping patients sleep or eat, and there are strains that help uplift the patient giving them more energy.
Currently, more than 115 Americans die every single day from opioid overdose. This includes prescription pills and illegal opioids like heroin, morphine, and others. The epidemic stems from a vastly abused system of prescription drugs that doctors loosely prescribe for minor issues such as pain and sleep. According to medical professionals, 21%-29% of patients with prescription pills abuse them, and 80% of people who use heroin first misused and abused prescription pills. Marijuana has been used by millions of people all around the world as an alternative to many prescription pills, especially for conditions involving pain, anxiety, nausea, and insomnia.
